Rookies Edgar Aban and Theo Libarnes were on target in Far Eastern University’s 2-0 victory over De La Salle in the UAAP Season 87 men’s football tournament Thursday, Oct. 10, at the UP Football Stadium.
Substitute Aban scored with a beautiful one touch in the 65th minute to double the Tamaraws’ lead.
It was Aban’s fifth goal of the season.
Libarnes struck in the 17th minute to open the scoring for FEU.
It was a big bounce back win for the Tamaraws, who improved to nine points. FEU was coming off a 1-2 loss to Ateneo last Sunday.
“We are happy after we lost our last game. Today was important to win again to keep our confidence. We were happy about it,” said FEU’s Spanish head coach Roman Oliver.
“We played three matches in seven days. There’s no time to think about or to be sad of what happened. We need to just improve, learn from the mistakes. We made mistakes against Ateneo. I think we learned from it. Just focus,” he added.
The Green Booters, meanwhile, remained at four points.
De La Salle will next face Adamson University next Thursday, the same day FEU will take on University of Santo Tomas.
“Next week we have another match. It is so fast, so just keep working and working. These kids are amazing,” said Oliver.
