Games Saturday
(Ynares Center Antipolo)
4 p.m. – Farm Fresh vs Cignal
6:30 p.m. – Creamline vs Petro Gazz
Creamline seeks to open its campaign for a fifth straight All-Filipino title on a high note while Petro Gazz aims to catch up with early leader Akari when they clash on Saturday, Nov. 16, in the Premier Volleyball League at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
Game is at 6:30 p.m. with the Cool Smashers expecting to flash their championship form to further cement their legacy in the league.
Creamline coach Sherwin Meneses would have no problem in fielding a combination of his players with a formidable lineup spearheaded by Bernadeth Pons, Michele Gumabao, Jema Galanza and Pangs Panaga.
But expect Petro Gazz to go all out and lean on morale-boosting, opening-day victory over fancied Choco Mucho, 25-20, 26-28, 25-21, 25-16, with hopes of tying with Akari at the helm.
So fiery were the Angels in that game they exploded for 73 kills in the two-hour affair.
Brooke Van Sickle, who erupted for 34 points in that game, is expected to challenge Creamline’s defense, with Aiza Pontillas, Jonah Sabete and Remy Palma backing her up.
The trio actually combined for 46 points the last time.
Also out to start their respective title campaigns are Farm Fresh and Cignal, who tangle at 4 p.m.
Veterans Rachel Daquis and Jheck Dionela are expected to join forces with the Foxies’ young crew in Trisha Tubu, as new recruit Aloha Robins Hardy is still not allowed to play unless she undergoes the rookie draft.
Cignal, which finished bronze in last year’s Second All-Filipino, meanwhile, has Ces Molina, Ria Meneses, Vanie Gandler and Dawn Catindig.
