The Perpetual Junior Altas closed in on a possible back-to-back titles after reaching the Finals of the the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Season 100 Table Tennis Championship.
The charges of coach Kirby Colis and Jun Glorioso defeated the EAC Brigadiers in the semifinals, forging a Finals duel against San Beda which also booted JRU Light Bombers in the semifinals match.
The Junior Altas hardly needed their twice-to-beat advantage against the Brigadiers, coming away with a dominant 3-0 victory behind the brilliance of reigning Most Valuable Player Geral Aguilar alongside James Michael Crom, Jhetron Valenzuela and rookies Lloyd Soliveres, Lemuel Quilinguen and Luke Enriquez.
The Finals showdown is set on Saturday, Nov. 16 at the St. Placid Sports Center in the San Beda University in Mendiola with the Junior Altas eager to produce a flawless performance to ensure that they defend their crown.
“We need to focus on the Finals tomorrow, they started a bit slow yesterday in the elims match with San Beda, which we lost 2-3, I know they can do it, because this is the team they beat last year’s finals with a score of 3- 1.” Coach Kirby Colis said in an interview.
