Marwin “Green Goblin” Quirante drew himself closer to a US$100,000 ONE Championship contract after a high-octane debut just one month ago.
Now he gets a chance to get even closer when he takes on Musa Musazade in a strawweight MMA bout at ONE Friday Fights 89 on November 29 inside Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
The AJJ Sprawl and Sambo Philippines representative turned heads in his debut when he dominated Phan Thanh Tung at ONE Friday Fights 84 last month, showing his deep bag of striking tools.
From boxing combinations to his Thai clinch work up to his elbows and knees, Quirante looked like a world beater on the feet. And after five minutes with the Filipino, the Vietnamese fighter quit on the stool to give Quirante the impressive TKO win.
He’s going to have his work cut out for him against Musazade, who comes in looking to put his grappling skills to good use in his ONE Championship debut.
But should Quirante win and get the contract, he’ll join a stacked strawweight division bannered by fellow Pinoys Lito Adiwang, Jeremy Miado, and ONE Strawweight MMA World Champion Joshua Pacio.
Adiwang actually believes it will take no time for Quirante to join them on the main roster with his kind of performances.
“One guy I see, who I believe belongs in the ONE roster, is Marwin Quirante. That kid, he’s good,” he said.
