The Zonta Club of Laguna recently completed its biggest project as part of the 16 Days of Activism, a worldwide campaign that aims to raise awareness and mobilize action to end all forms of violence against women and girls.
Held last Sunday, December 1, at the Biñan Oval Track and Football Field, was the 2024 Orange the World Run as spearheaded by the president of Zonta Club of Laguna, Ann Matibag, also the duly-elected Representative of the First District of San Pedro City, Laguna.
“The mission of this event is to bring our community together to stand in solidarity and amplify the message that violence has no place in our homes, schools, workplaces, or society at large. Our goal is to not only raise awareness but also inspire action—because change begins with each one of us,” Matibag explained.
She was joined by more than 500 Zontians, all eager to lend their voice for the cause.
The event included a Happy 1k Family Run, a leisure run for children and families.
It was followed by the Orange the World 5k Run where the 1st Finisher received 5,000 pesos in cash, while the 2nd-6th Finisher earned 1000 pesos each.
It culminated in a Solidarity Walk with attendees showing their combined strength to stop violence.
Proceeds from the event will directly benefit women in jail; the girls at Kanlungan ni Erma; survivors of domestic violence in local shelters; young women in underprivileged communities.
