A Chinese woman, who is allegedly linked to dismissed mayor Alice L. Guo and is suspected to be involved in the operations of the padlocked Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) in Bamban, Tarlac, has been arrested by the Bureau of Immigration (BI).
Immigration Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado identified her as Pan Meishu, 49, also known as Hannah, in a statement issued on Friday, Dec. 20.
Viado said that Pan will remain in the BI’s custody pending deportation proceedings. The BI stated that Pan was arrested last Thursday, Dec. 19, at a hotpot restaurant in Pasay City.
“BI, together with government intelligence forces, conducted the operation after confirming her presence in the area,” the bureau said.
It also mentioned that “Pan reportedly has links to the illegal offshore gaming operations of Zun Yuan Technology in Bamban, Tarlac, which was previously raided by authorities for alleged criminal and human trafficking activities.”
“Zun Yuan, formerly known as Hongsheng Gaming Technology Inc., is part of the investigations related to former Bamban mayor Alice Leal Guo,” it noted.
“These companies engaging in illegal activities have no place in the country,” Viado declared.
“Expect more arrests as we crack down on illegal POGO operations,” he added.
