Former Ateneo star Chris Koon completed the Strong Group Athletics cast for the 34th Dubai International Basketball Championship in United Arab Emirates slated Jan. 24 to Feb. 2.
Koon’s signing with SGA marks the beginning of his professional career after completing his collegiate career that saw him help Ateneo win the 2022 UAAP crown.
The 6-foot-5 Koon averaged 7.58 points, 4.17 rebounds, and 1.83 assists with the Eagles.
“He has good size as a wing, can shoot, can defend. I think he will be a good role player for us,” said SGA head coach Charles Tiu.
Koon will join a team with heady guards like Mikey Williams and Jason Brickman, Rhenz Abando, Tony Ynot, Justine Sanchez, Dave Ildefonso and reinforcement Malachi Richardson.
Other members are NCAA MVP Allen Liwag, Angge Kouame, Andray Blatche, Justine Sanchez, Terry Larrier and four-time NBA All-Star DeMarcus Cousins.
Strong Group is seeking redemption after losing to Al-Riyadi last year.
