Selling out the Araneta is a huge dream shared by many Pinoy musicians.
Cup of Joe is no different.
The hot, young Baguio-based band responsible for the earworms “Nag-iisang Muli,” “Estranghero,” “Alas Dose,” “Ikaw Pa Rin Ang Pipiliin Ko,” among many others, admitted this much to us in a recent interview.
Singer Gian Bernardino attested, “We all grew up watching the likes of Sarah Geronimo and the Eraserheads, among others, conquer the Araneta. So, siyempre kami din, nangarap din kami.”
Thankfully, the band’s fans pulled through.
Their two-night show at the historic venue scheduled on Feb.8 and 9 has sold out.
They were far from surprised, though.
“Nakita namin ang love and loyalty ng mga supporters namin since day one and we’re pretty sure that they would all make an effort to be there to make history with us,” said Rafael Ridao, also on lead vocals.
“Ang nagulat kami e yung nalaman namin na nag sold out ang tickets in only, like, four hours,” lead guitarist Gabriel Fernandez intoned.
Titled “Silakbo,” the concert marks Cup of Joe’s big debut at the Dome.
So what can we expect from the show, we asked.
Keyboardist Xen Gareza and guitarist CJ Fernandez chorused, “It’s going to be a wild experience!”
“We are definitely going to make it memorable for our supporters,” Gian stated. “I mean, we always give our best every time we perform kahit saan man ang venue but, ito, I think mas tataasan pa namin ang level ng performance namin.”
Gabriel intimated, “They should watch out for the new songs, tsaka the new arrangements we did relating the old numbers. At marami kaming surprise guests na dapat din nila abangan.”
Note that Cup of Joe has just released a new album of their own originals also titled “Silakbo” under Viva Records.
“Silakbo” the concert is a production of Viva Live and the Viva Music Group.
