Manila, Philippines – A barangay chairman and his driver were shot dead by a man at Cowboy’s Grill in Terasa, Barangay Sampaloc I, Dasmarinas City, Cavite, police said yesterday.
Senior Superintendent John C. Bulalacao, Cavite Police Provincial Office (PPO) director, said that Chairman Aldwin A. Navarro, 39, and Jeffrey V. Alfaro, 37, sustained bullet wounds and were both declared dead in a nearby hospital.
Bulalacao said that Navarro was reportedly the chairman of a barangay in General Mariano Alvarez (GMA), a town in the upland fifth district of Cavite. Citing the initial report of Superintendent Ulysses G. Cruz, Dasmariñas police chief, Bulalacao said that jealousy may have something to do with the shooting. The PPO commander withheld the gunman’s identity for the meantime pending investigation of the incident. (Anthony Giron)
