Manila, Philippines – Several members of the House of Representatives called yesterday for the passage of a bill seeking to deter, prosecute, and eliminate cyber-bullies.
Ako Bicol party-list Rep. Christopher Co pushed for the approval of House Bill 5391 or the proposed Anti-Cyber-Bullying Act of 2011 “to create a culture of free and unfettered exchange of information, opinions and ideas based on mutual respect and sensitivity towards the feelings of others.“ He expressed concern about the cyber-bullying experienced by internationally acclaimed singer Charice Pempengco in her Twitter and Facebook accounts.
