CEBU CITY – A retired Coast Guard officer shot dead his wife before shooting himself following an argument in their home in Barangay Inayawan here.
Aldrin Cabo Sr., 48, and his wife Gina, 48, were found dead in their home in Sitio Iza around 9 p.m. last Friday.
Chief Insp. Regino Maramag said the couple was heard arguing in their room before they were found with gunshot wounds.
The two were already dead when paramedics arrived.
A .45 caliber pistol was found in the room.
Cabo was reportedly armed with a .45 caliber pistol when he arrived home drunk, said Maramag, chief of the Pardo Police Station.
Police said jealousy may have caused the couple to argue which ended in the fatal shooting.
Senior Supt. Royina Garma, chief of the Cebu City Police Office, rushed to the area after receiving a report that there was a hostage-taking drama in the area.
It was learned that the couple was no longer in good terms since last month.
There was even a time when Gina sought a Barangay Protection Order against her husband.
After Gina decided to end the relationship, the husband threatened to kill his wife and that he would also commit suicide, police said.
