Manila, Philippines – President Benigno S. Aquino III said yesterday at the Annual Presidential Forum of the Foreign Correspondents Association of the Philippines (FOCAP) in Makati City that the government is looking at ways to resolve the territorial dispute in the Spratlys group of islands.
Aquino said they will be within the boundaries set by the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) and other agreements that the Philippines is a signatory to.
He said Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert F. del Rosario will be in the best position to explain each particular step and the status of efforts.
“The Secretary of Foreign Affairs will go through each one,” Aquino added. The President said that multilateral talks to settle the Spratlys dispute are “on track.” (Madel R. Sabater)
