Manila, Philippines – The Commission on Appointments (CA) unanimously confirmed yesterday the appointment of Department of Transportation and Communications (DoTC) Secretary Manuel A. Roxas II.
CA Secretary Arturo L.Tiu announced Roxas’ appointment after there was no written opposition to his confirmation. Senate Majority Leader Vicente C. Sotto III and Sen. Joker P. Arroyo asked their colleagues to hasten the confirmation of Roxas since it is a tradition of the constitutional commission that a former colleague should at least be confirmed by acclamation.
Roxas, 54, was officially confirmed at 11:45 a.m. in a CA plenary session presided over by Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile. (Mario B. Casayuran)
