An estimated P100,000 in property was destroyed after an 18-wheel delivery van caught fire on Katipunan Ave., Quezon City, yesterday.
Police traffic officers said the fire that happened in front of Ateneo de Manila University resulted to a one-kilometer traffic as only one-lane was opened to motorists.
Fire Supt. Jesus Fernandez, Quezon City Fire Marshall, disclosed that the fire occurred at 5:37 a.m.
The white Fuso tractor head delivery van with license plates RHW-185 driven by Manny Solis had just came from Libis and on its way to Marilao, Bulacan, to deliver Jack N Jill assorted snack items when it suddenly caught fire.
Fernandez said the fire was traced to the under chassis of the vehicle. No one was killed or hurt in the fire that was put out by fire fighters at 6:10 a.m. The delivery van is owned by Raymundo Villa with business name Leavill Trucking. (Francis T. Wakefield)
