Streaking Ateneo squares off with unpredictable Adamson today, with the Blue Eaglets favored to extend their perfect start in the UAAP juniors basketball tournament to nine matches at The Arena in San Juan City.
Still enjoying a panoramic view atop the field with an unblemished 8-0 record, the Blue Eaglets are determined to sustain their dominant form in their 3 p.m. showdown with the Baby Falcons, whom they handily beaten 82-64 last Nov. 11.
But Ateneo coach Joe Silva admitted his wards have no reason to fall into a fall sense of complacency, wary that a vengeful Adamson side is eager to follow-up an impressive 76-58 win over University of the Philippines Integrated School over the weekend.
“Any team is capable of beating us if we play complacent,” he said. “As much as possible, we want to be tested, especially during close games. But it depends on how we’re going to play and how our opponents are going to play us.”
Meanwhile, powerhouse National University intends to tighten its grip on the second spot when the Bullpups take on the La Salle-Zobel Junior Archers at 1 p.m.
University of Santo Tomas, smarting from a 24-point loss inflicted by Ateneo the last time out, is eager to get back on track at the expense of UPIS at 9 a.m.
