UNUSUAL STORY – Now showing nationwide is “Hintayan ng Langit,” topbilled by Eddie Garcia and Gina Pareño, directed by Dan Villegas, and produced by Globe Studios and Project 8 Corner San Joaquin Projects. Initially shown at QCinema last October, “Hintayan ng Langit” was so well received that a larger audience is called for. It gave Eddie the best actor award at QCinema.
“Hintayan ng Langit” refers to purgatory, where ex-lovers Gina and Eddie wait for their turn to go to heaven. An unusual story which, surprisingly, touched many people…young and old alike. Written by Juan Miguel Severo based on his one-act play for The Virgin Lab Fest.

NOSTALGIC TRIP – The media event for “Hintayan ng Langit,” called by the ever efficient and charming Gay Ace Domingo, turned to be a nostalgic trip. You see, Eddie and Gina are products of Sampaguita Pictures – in different eras though.
Eddie is the “resident contravida” of Sampaguita in the ‘50s, while Gina is circa the late ‘60s, the most promising of the Stars ’66 batch. They were together in a few films, but of course, never as romantic partners. Eddie regrets that when he turned director, he never got the chance to direct her. Gina feels the same.
“Gina has always been a good actress, a pleasure to work with from way back,” enthuses Eddie. Gina has always admired “Tito Eddie,” as she used to address the senior star.

TEARS, TEARS – Globe Studio head Quark Henares recalls that when he first read the script of “Hintayan ng Langit” he couldn’t put it down. And when he finished it “I couldn’t hold back my tears.”
Globe Studio had to do it. “It’s different, it’s touching, it stays with you,” says Quark, himself a director.
Project 8 is owned by direk Dan and partner Antoinette Jadaone. They join the roll of A-list filmmakers who collaborated with Globe Studios. The others include Erik Matti, Paul Soriano, Sigrid Bernardo, Joyce Bernal, and Lav Diaz.
