The Mandaluyong El Tigre leaned on their outside shooting to down the Bulacan Kuyas, 102-91, on Monday in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Datu Cup at the Jose Rizal University gym in Mandaluyong.
The El Tigre drained 10 triples to frustrate the Kuyas and snap a seven-game losing run for an 8-7 mark.
Antonio Bonsubre Jr. paced the El Tigre with 16 points and 10 rebounds even as Jeff Javillonar and Janus Lozada chipped in 15 and 11 points.
The Kuyas, backed by Mighty Sports’ Caesar Angelo Wongchuking, absorbed their sixth defeat in 16 outings despite Jay-R Taganan finishing with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, the Makati Super Crunch took advantage of the Caloocan Supremos’ slow start to hack out a 79-57 victory.
The Super Crunch never experience trouble since finishing the first quarter enjoying a 16-8 lead.
