It seems like the leap of Aldin Ayo’s “Mayhem” system to the PBA will have to wait.
That, after the champion coach in the collegiate ranks denied any formal commitment with Converge despite news of his supposed hiring broke out Tuesday, Aug. 9.
“I’m surprised. Things are happening so fast. I have not made any formal commitment to Converge. This might just be like the rumored college schools coaching that did not materialize,” said Ayo who was referring to the coaching gig with San Beda in NCAA where he was reportedly one of the strong candidates to take the job.
Ayo said he will consult his mother first who was diagnosed with cancer, the reason that he stepped down from his post as the head trainer of the Chooks Pilipinas 3×3 program.
“I am preoccupied at the moment with the chemotherapy of my mother,” said Ayo who had some series of controversial moves during his coaching career — the latest being the infamous “Sorsogon-bubble'”which resulted in his indefinite ban in the UAAP.
“But I am flattered that I’m being considered as the head coach of the Converge FiberXers. This would be a big challenge and opportunity for any basketball coach, but I would like to seriously talk to my mother about it before deciding,” he added
