Barangay Ginebra is set to get its hands on one of the rising stars in the PBA in Jamie Malanzo as a complex three-team trade between the Kings and the NorthPort Batang Pier and San Miguel Beermen has already been sent to the Commissioner’s office for approval.
Rumors about Malonzo going to Ginebra first started after he was seen working out with injured Ginebra guard Jeremiah Gray in the SMC training facility and will come close to realization after multiple reports regarding the trade broke out on Monday, Sept. 19.
It was later confirmed by sources to Manila Bulletin-Tempo.
Under the deal, Ginebra will be shipping Arvin Tolentino, Prince Caperal and Kent Salado and two future second round picks to NorthPort in exchange for the Fil-American athletic forward.
NorthPort will then send the two future picks to the Beermen for shooter Von Pessumal who will be dealt to Ginebra for Jeff Chan.
Should it push through, the Batang Pier will end up with four new players in Tolentino, Caperal, Salado and Chan to join key players Robert Bolick and Arwind Santos.
The Gin Kings will have Pessumal and Malonzo to join an already potent crew that has Japeth Aguilar, Christian Standhardinger, Stanley Pringle and LA Tenorio.
