Danny “The King” Kingad saw how active fans can get inside Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Thailand, and he immediately knew that he wanted to be part of that experience.
The third-ranked flyweight will now get a chance to compete in Thailand’s most iconic stadium when he takes on Eko Roni Saputra in a crucial mixed martial arts tussle at ONE Fight Night 7: Lineker vs. Andrade II on 25 February.
Fresh off the heels of ONE Friday Fights 1, where he saw the Thais go crazy with every strike thrown, Kingad is excited to feel that energy when he takes on the red-hot Indonesian.
“I’m very excited about [competing in Lumpinee] because this is the first time that I’m fighting in Bangkok,” he said.
“They’ve given me a chance to fight again. I’m very hungry. I’m ready to fight. I want to fight anyone. I’m going to give my best on that fight.”
To be able to give his very best, Kingad knows that he’ll have to sharpen his tools to put on a show for the Thai fans, especially since he’ll be facing a guy known for his non-stop motor.
“My conditioning right now’s getting better, but what I’m really trying to improve on are my speed and power,” Kingad said.
He expects this match to be settled on the feet, and he’s confident that when it comes to that, he’ll expose Saputra’s weaknesses.
“As for me, I’m really excited. I think I have the advantage in terms of striking,” he said.
“I saw in his previous fights that he doesn’t have much striking. Although he’s got some knockouts [on] his record, he did throw a bit, but his opponents aren’t really some of the best.”
