TACLOBAN CITY – Albuera, Leyte mayoral candidate Roland “Kerwin” Espinosa, a former self-confessed drug lord, said he is ready to testify before the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Netherlands over the war on drugs of former President Rodrigo Duterte.
“With what happened to me, whatever happens, I am ready,” Kerwin said on Friday, a day after a failed assassination attempt on Thursday, April 10.
He added that he will testify to attain justice for his father, former Albuera Mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr., who was killed during the drug war of the Duterte administration in 2016.
Kerwin said he pitied former President Duterte who is detained at The Hague but pointed out that there are laws that need to be followed and that he should face the cases filed against him.
Kerwin was wounded in a shooting incident in Barangay Tinag-an while campaigning.
Also wounded was running mate sister Mariel and the daughter of a candidate for councilor.
Seven police officers from Ormoc City were placed under custody for being persons of interest in the shooting. (Marie Tonette Marticio)
