Abu Dhabi or Dubai in the United Arab Emirates will play host to Manny Pacquiao’s April 23 fight, the Filipino fighter’s Canadian adviser said yesterday.
Appearing in front of mediamen in Abu Dhabi, Koncz said that the host city will be known in a couple of weeks.
Australia was bidding to stage the fight against local boy Jeff Horn but Brisbane’s financial package didn’t match UAE’s offer, forcing Pacquiao to train his sights on the Middle East as the next stop of his act.
The undefeated Horn holds a 16-0-1 card with 11 KOs and is virtually unknown outside Australia and New Zealand.
Koncz said that Pacquiao will travel to the UAE to officiallyw announce the fight that will have him risk his World Boxing Organization welterweight crown.
