Kapamilya heartthrob James Reid has always been naturally skinny, his light built and lean muscles part of his genes.
To counter this, James started to bulk up and gain more mass by concentrating on his daily workout, made up mostly of lifting weights.
“I used to be so skinny. Even if I eat a lot, I don’t gain weight,” James says. “That’s why when I started my career again, the first thing they noticed was my being skinny so I had to build up my body.”
And once James did, he never stopped.
“ I love working out,” he says, insisting he doesn’t forego his daily routine unless absolutely necessary.
“ I don’t believe in cheat days. I believe in achieving your goals even with the diet you are in. If I cheat, that will not be good for my body.”
He lifts weights up to an hour and makes sure his diet includes green vegetables with tuna which is a good source of muscle-building protein. He also avoids deserts as much as possible.
“If I have free time I definitely go to the gym to do weights, but then there’s still so much you can do even without weights,” James says.
“Like when you’re at home or when you’re at work, there are strength exercises that you can do. And I guess when you really have a proper diet and make time to exercise, it’s possible to achieve your goals.”
James is currently shooting a movie with his real-life fiance Nadine Lustre, the love team better known as JaDine, for Viva Films entitled “Infinity Love Story.”
