FEEDBACK – Like Highspeed’s item on presidential relatives, the one on actors who value education also got reaction from some readers.
First, that Benjamin Alves finished AB at the University of Guam with the highest honors. Yes, summa cum laude.
Of course, the Guam school is no Harvard or Yale, or Stanford, but still a summa is a summa.
Also, that Benjamin started at Viva, using the screen moniker Vince Zaldaña. Didn’t know about that until now.
By the way, will the President Quezon filmbio push through with Benjamin in the title role?

‘BISTEK’ – Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista has an AB Philosophy from San Beda, where also took grade school and high school. He has two MAs, from UP (Public Administration) and National Defense College.
Harvard School of Government offered him a scholarship, but he couldn’t accept it for lack of time. Perhaps when his third and last term as QC mayor expires two years from now?
But then Bistek might run for congressman or senator.

STATESIDE – Actors and other celebrities who studied abroad include Louie Heredia (Notre Dame is San Francisco, magna cum laude), Gabby Concepcion (Lincoln University), two children of Joey de Leon (Fordham), Rafa Siguion Reyna (NYU), Cris Villonco (Sarah Lawrence), Cocoy Laurel (Julliard), Gerard Salonga (Berklee College of Music, summa cum laude), Nestor Torre (Northwestern), Carlitos Siguion Reyna (NYU), Gil Portes (City University of NY), Grace Poe (Boston College), Digna Santiago (Wharton).
Special mention to KC Concepcion who finished college at the American University of Paris before joining showbiz. She speaks fluent French, it goes without saying.

SPEEDY NOTES – Learned from Daisy Romualdez that Danita Paner is getting married…Thanks to Aaron Domingo for personally delivering at home Charo Santos’ book, including mags where she’s featured…The Gregorio del Pilar filmbio is definitely pushing through with Paulo Avelino in the title role. Paulo’s finished the shoot of “Larawan.” Is it joining this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival?
