Kobe Paras leaves Bluejays for Matadors

Confirmed na lilipat si Kobe Paras mula Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska to Cal State Northridge in Northridge, California.

Naglaro para sa basketball team ng Creighton University, na Creighton Bluejays, kunsaan nag-average siya ng 1.3 points, 1.0 rebounds and 4.7 minutes in 15 games last season.

Si Kobe ay anak ng two-time MVP Benjie Paras. Kuya naman ni Kobe ay ang Kapuso actor na si Andre Paras.

Hindi showbiz ang priority ni Kobe kahit na maraming offers sa kanya na gumawa ng teleserye. Priority niya ang school at ang basketball.

Kinumpirma ni Kobe ang kanyang paglipat ng university sa naging Skype interview niya with Philippine-base sport journalist, T.J. Manotoc para sa CNN Philippines.

Nag-tweet din si Kobe noong nakaraang May 9 para i-announce ang kanyang paglipat:

“I am happy to say that I have verbally committed to play at Cal State University Northridge. Can’t wait to be back on the court playing!”

Isa sa popular basketball players ng Bluejays si Kobe at meron siyang malaking fan base dito at maging sa Filipino communities sa US.

The 19-year who stands 6 feet 6 inches aktibo sa social media at mayroon na siyang 461,000 followers on Instagram at 114,000 followers on Twitter.

Inamin ni Kobe sa kanyang interview na gusto niyang bumalik sa West Coast dahil doon siya nagtapos ng kanyang junior high school sa Cathedral High School at ng senior high school sa Middlebrooks Academy.

“I believe that Cal State Northridge is the best fit for me,” diin pa ni Paras sa kanyang interview.

Dapat ay sa UCLA papasok si Kobe bilang college freshman noong nakaraang taon, pero kinailangan niyang mag-withdraw dahil sa “academic issue”.

Sa paglipat ni Kobe to Cal State Northridge, maglalaro siya for the university’s basketball team na Matadors.

Pero one year required si Kobe to sit out ang paglaro ng basketball, pero may three remaining seasons siyang eligible to play with Cal State Northridge. (Ruel J. Mendoza)
