Businessman’s car robbed

A businessman lost nearly R40,000 worth of gadgets and personal belongings to a robber who ransacked his car Wednesday night in Pandacan, Manila. Supt. Ruben Ramos identified the victim as Reymundo Caraig, 33, of 1105 B2, Narciso St., Pandacan, Manila.Initial investigation showed that the victim parked his vehicle, a gray Toyota Fortuner with plate number PIU 764, on Pureza St. at around 11:20 p.m. Wednesday.

When he returned to his vehicle at 11:50 p.m., Caraig discovered that the driver’s seat window of his car was shattered and his belongings including a Dell laptop worth R30,000, two flash drives worth R8,000, and a checkbook were missing.

Caraig sought the help of nearby police officers namely PO2 Willfredo Millare, PO1 John Centino and PO1 Peter Giron. The officers assisted the victim in going to Barangay 626 to review the footage of a closed circuit television (CCTV) located near the area. The footage showed a man onboard a Mio motorcycle approaching Caraig’s vehicle at around 11:32 p.m. The man then broke the window of the vehicle using unidentified tools and took away the victim’s belongings.

The suspect fled towards Ramon Magsaysay Boulevard with the stolen items. A follow-up investigation is underway to identify and locate the suspect. (Hans Amancio)
