Alvarez commends colleagues

As the House of Representatives closed the first chapter of its three sessions in the 17th Congress, Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez commended his colleagues for working hard to pass pieces of legislation that address the everyday problems faced by Filipinos.

In a speech delivered before declaring the sine die adjournment of Congress, Alvarez took pride in enumerating the various key measures that have been passed by the 292-member chamber.

”As we gather here today, we can proudly say to the Filipino people that the laws we passed will address these problems they face every day,” declared Alvarez.

He also vowed the chamber’s cooperation in helping government address the Marawi City crisis as he led lawmakers in taking the initiative to create a trust fund to aid those affected by the on-going Maute invasion of certain areas of the city.

“We have to do our part in sharing the heavy burden of what happened in Marawi City. To this end, may I inform you that the House of Representatives has taken the initiative to create a trust fund to aid in this mission,” Alvarez said. (Ben R. Rosario)
