Horn is a different ‘animal’

Manny Pacquiao 2

Manny Pacquiao is getting a dose of his own medicine when he meets Jeff Horn on July 2, the undefeated challenger’s supremely confident trainer told the Australian media.

Glenn Rushton, Horn’s long-time tactician, told the Courier Mail that while Pacquiao made a name for himself on the strength of his off-beat style, the Australian banger also does the same thing.

“Manny has never fought anyone like Jeff,” Rushton said. “And Jeff is the kind of fighter who is difficult to prepare for because you never know what’s coming at you.”

Rushton’s description of Horn is identical with that of the Filipino’s fighting style: unpredictable and unorthodox.

Pacquiao, making the first defense of the world welterweight title at Suncorp Stadium, is the overwhelming favorite.

But Rushton swears Pacquiao is in for a shock, citing that those who have fallen before the eight-division champion, had lots in common.

“Most guys Manny has fought come into the rig and they are predictable. Even Tim Bradley—who is a very good boxer—they all start with the left jab, right hand, left hook.”

Unlike Bradley and company, Horn “throws punches from everywhere.”

“He can throw right hand leads as fast as jabs and he can turn southpaw quickly to throw opponents off their game,” Rushton said from their training ground right in the heart of Brisbane.
