Duterte on ratings: I’m just doing my job

Despite getting a very good rating in the latest Social Weather Stations survey, President Duterte maintained that he is not after the recognition but just a man doing his job.

In a brief interview posted over the Facebook page of Presidential Communications Operations Office, Assistant Secretary Margaux Uson, Duterte reassured the public not he is not after anything else.

“Basta ito lang sabihin ko: I ran for the presidency to serve the Filipino people. Period. Wala akong agenda, wala akong lahat,” Duterte said.

He also reiterated that he will not tolerate corruption and emphasized that those who will be caught or discovered involved would be dismissed.

“And that is why you can expect ‘yung corruption, ‘yung kalokohan, hindi ko man mahuli lahat pero I will not tolerate it. Not during my term,” Duterte said. “At tsaka ang akin is always dismissal. I will not be satisfied with just mga suspensyon. Umalis ka talaga,” he added.

Duterte recalled how he fired a member of his Cabinet for alleged corruption despite being a friend for so many years. “Pag hindi tayo nagkaintindihan sa bagay na ‘yan, umalis ka,” he said.

The President is known not to be fond of ratings and even refused to rate his first year in office. He preferred to let the people judge his performance over the past year which he described as a “roller coaster ride.”
