LPA spotted, won’t intensify

A new low-pressure area has formed east of the country but has a slim chance of intensifying into a cyclone, according to the government weather bureau.

The LPA inside the country’s area of responsibility was estimated by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration at 525 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.

However, the southwest monsoon or “habagat” will prevail over the western section of Luzon and Visayas today.

PAGASA said cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms will likely affect Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Palawan, Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, and Zamboanga Sibugay.
