A former chief prosecutor of Mandaluyong City was shot dead yesterday morning by motorcycle-riding gunmen as he and his family stepped out of a chapel in the city.

Police Inspector Andres Villarta, chief Criminal Investigation Unit of Mandaluyong Police, said the victim – Pablito Gahol, 77, of 751 Nueve de Pebrero Barangay Mauway. Mandaluyong City, was declared dead on arrival at Victor Potenciano Hospital due to multiple bullet wounds in the body.

Initial investigation showed that Gahol together with his family had just come from a chapel near the Mental Health Institution and was about to board his car, a Mercedez Benz (TOR 22) in front of Mataas na Paaralan Neptali Gonzales at about 9:45 a.m. when two motorcycles arrived.

Backriders of the motorbikes fired shots at Gahol.

Witnesses said residents in the area scampered in different directions when they heard successive gun shots.

Police said the wife and daughter of Gahol were safe.

Police recovered from the crime scene 10 spent shells from unknown caliber of firearm.

It was gathered that aside from being a former city prosecutor, Gahol also served as chairman of Barangay Mauway.
