Moderate to heavy monsoon rains will persist across most parts of Northern Luzon and some areas in western Luzon due to the surge of the southwest monsoon or āhaĀbagatā today.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration said tropiĀcal depression āLuisā has weakĀened into a low-pressure area as it moved towards southern China.
Luis was estimated at 560 kiĀlometers northwest of Basco, Batanes or outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
The LPA spotted northeast of Basco, as well as Luis, are now embedded in the monsoon trough across southern China and TaiĀwan.
PAGASA said the habagat will continue to bring scattered modĀerate to heavy rains in Zambales, Bataan, La Union, Ilocos Norte, IloĀcos Sur, Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Abra, Apayao, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga, and Mountain Province.
The public, especially those livĀing near river channels, low-lying areas, and mountainous areas, should still take precaution against possible flooding and landslides due to saturated soil after several days of continuous rains.
PAGASA said the rest of Central Luzon and Cagayan Valley will exĀperience cloudy skies with scatĀtered rains and thunderstorms due to habagat. (Ellalyn V. Ruiz)
