Joel Cagulangan flirted with a triple-double as La Salle Greenhills whipped University of Perpetual Help, 96-82, yesterday to stay at the helm in the NCAA juniors basketball tournament at The Arena in San Juan City.

The 5-foot-8 pointguard scored nine points, grabbed 12 rebounds and dished off 11 assists to steer the Junior Blazers to their ninth win in 10 outings.

He also made four steals to complete his wondrous day.

LSGH went on a scoring binge to take a 49-39 halftime lead – thanks to the stellar showing of Joshua David and Jacob Cortez, who combined for 10 of the team’s 26 points in the second quarter.

RC Calimag led the Junior Blazers throughout, scattering 10 of his 23 points in the third quarter while grabbing seven boards and stealing thrice.

Inand Fomillos finished with a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds while Sydney Mosqueda also chipped in 12 points for LSGH.
Pereptual slipped to 5-5 to join Jose Rizal University at fourth place despite Edzel Galoy and Shawn Orgo conspiring for 36 points and 14 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Letran overpowered Arellano, 80-74, to register its third victory against seven defeats.

John Tabajen came off the bench and posted a double-double performance of 11 points and 12 rebounds for the Squires, who banked on their outside shooting by draining 13 three-pointers.

He also had four assists and two steals.

CJ Saure spearheaded the Intramuros-based squad with 15 points on a 7-of-10 shooting in the field, while Julian Culanay added 12 points highlighted by four triples.
