CEU nails 3rd victory

Centro Escolar University and University of Luzon continued their winning ways while De Ocampo Memorial College broke out of slump in the NCRAA men’s basketball tournament at the Saint Joseph Gymnasium just recently.

The CEU Scorpions needed an extra period before edging Pasig Catholic College, 81-80.

Rich Gunitaran tallied 31 points, including six in the overtime period, allowing the Derrick Pumaren-coached squad to notch its third win in as many games.

Joshua Abastillas added 19 points and nine rebounds while Tyron Chan went a point away from posting a double-double performance as he ended up with nine points, 12 rebounds and five assists.

University of Luzon, on the other hand, asserted its mastery over Philippine School of Business Administration, 92-82, to stay unbeaten as well.

The Golden Tigers kept their perfect record in Group B and surpassed their number of wins last season. They are now 3-0 and continued to surprise everyone in the tournament.
