BUTUAN CITY – A mild earthquake shook Siargao Islands anew yesterday, the Philippine Institute Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
In its bulletin, Phivolcs said a 3.5 magnitude earthquake was recorded at 4:39 a.m.
The epicenter was plotted only 11 kilometers (km) southeast of General Luna town in Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte, Phivolcs said.
The tremor has a depth of 32 km, the state agency said On Monday, a 4.9 magnitude earthquake also struck in nearby Burgos town of that same Pacific Ocean facing island of Siargao, the state agency said.
The Wednesday and Monday tremors were all tectonic in origin and no damage or casualty reported. (Mike U. Crismundo)
