Actress-television host Kris Aquino is all smiles these days as she confirmed that she would finally have a television show on GMA 7.
“I waited nearly a year, but finally starting something new and celebrating with faith that my journey is taking me back to where I belong. (Taping starts Friday),” said Aquino on Instagram.
Aquino was supposed to make a TV comeback in November 2016 for a one-on-one interview with President Rodrigo Duterte after she transferred networks from ABS-CBN to GMA 7. But Duterte did not show up. She described the cancelled interview “an epic snub.”
In October 2016, it seemed that Aquino was not coming back to television soon following cryptic messages of an executive of the Kapuso network.
“No grand welcome for @krisaquino214 sa front entrance ng GMA 7. Kasi naman, she was entering thru the backdoor. Sana may place sya sa CNN,” according to a twitter post then of Jake Tordesillas, creative consultant of GMA Network.
“Remember, when @iloveruffag walked out after @krisaquino214 teased her that ABS’s heaven compared to TV5. Well, who has the last laugh now,” Tordesillas added.
Reports said that a powerful executive of GMA 7 has denied Aquino a morning time slot. Aquino never addressed that rumor.
In September, Aquino decided to leave ABS-CBN after 22 years to do a project with Antonio P. Tuviera (APT) Entertainment, Inc., a group associated with the Kapuso network. APT is a subsidiary of TAPE Inc., the producer of the popular noontime show “Eat Bulaga.”
Aquino, 46, said that it was her manager Boy Abunda who reached out to Tuviera. Aside from television and being a mother to two children, Aquino is also busy with her food franchise business.
