Dismissed policeman Eduardo Acierto has committed “high treason” when he sold government weapons to communist rebels, President Duterte said last Sunday.
The President has slammed Acierto for supplying weapons to the enemy as he asked the police and military why the former cop was still alive.
“Acierto, that foolish government worker, was the one who bought several AK-47 in a gun shop and sold it to the NPA,” Duterte said during the PDP-Laban campaign rally in Agusan del Norte Sunday night.
“When I saw the AK-47 in the cabin of the camp, I said, ‘Tell the military waiting below to…’ And if they’re still alive, I will tell the military, ‘Why are those sons of b****** still alive?’ That is high treason. You are a police but you supplied arms to the enemy,” he added.
As denounced Acierto for the alleged treasonous act, Duterte cried foul over allegations linking his daughter Veronica to the illegal drug trade. “They had the gall to say that Bikoy and I were behind the black propaganda. They even accused my 14-year-old child to be a drug lord,” he said.
Acierto was among the police officials dismissed for the alleged irregular purchase of AK-47 rifles that were reportedly found at the hands of armed communist rebels.
Recently, Acierto bared an intelligence report alleging businessman and former economic adviser of the President Michael Yang was involved in the illegal drug trade. Acierto claimed he submitted a report on the matter but it was supposedly ignored by his superiors.
The President however turned the tables on Acierto, accusing him of corruption and criminal involvement.
He also defended Yang from Acierto’s drug allegations, saying he was a plain businessman known by top Chinese government officials.
Yang served as the President’s adviser until December 2018 when his one-peso per annum contract expired. (Genalyn Kabiling)
