President Duterte has accepted the resignation of Government Service Insurance System President and General Manager Jesus Aranas, Malacañang confirmed yesterday afternoon.
In a text message, Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea confirmed that Duterte has accepted Aranas’ resignation. “Aranas resignation accepted earlier,” he said.
In his resignation letter dated July 2, Aranas said that he is resigning, confident that he has advanced the interest of GSIS.
“I resign, secure in the knowledge that I have unwaveringly advanced the interest of GSIS and its members in discharging the functions of the said office always in obeisance to all laws and never once compromising my integrity or that of the office I now relinquish,” Aranas said.
Aranas was a deputy commissioner at the Bureau of Internal Revenue before he was appointed by Duterte to lead the GSIS in November 2017.
This is the second resignation of a high ranking government appointee in a week. Last week, Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol filed a courtesy resignation. (Argyll Cyrus B. Geducos)
