Bulldogs not always fierce

by Kim Atienza

BulldogAnimal behavior is one of our favorite topics on our weekly TV show, Matanglawin.

Recently, we talked about bulldogs.

Many people shy away from the idea of having a bulldog – bully, as affectionately called by dog enthusiasts.

Bulldogs have an aggressive, fierce appearance. However, contrary to their appearance, bulldogs are very playful and affectionate.

They are becoming a popular pet choice in various countries over the last few years. Bulldogs were used in a sport called bullbaiting in England in the 19th century.

Through the years, they have been adopted and tamed by humans.

Matanglawin TV featured The Bully Show, an event for bully lovers to gather, showcase their beloved bullies, and promote awareness for the breed they love.

Matang lawin is a weekly science-environmental educational TV show that tackles different norms and traditions, cultural practices, unusual trivia, and everything related to the environment.

Through your support, our show is quite popular among children because of its adventurous yet child-friendly content. The show is told from from the vantage point of a Philippine Hawk – Mapanuri, Mapagmatiyag, Mapangahas! (Inquisitive, Vigilant, Adventurous!)

TRIVIA PA MORE. Here are excerpts from the very useful book Living With Folk Wisdom by Abercio V. Rotor, Ph.D:
Alugbati (Basellarubra) is a twining plant with reddish stems and leaves. The tops are gathered as vegetable which is delicious when cooked.

Talinum (Talinum triangulare). Its succulent stems and leaves are gathered as vegetable.

Pechay (Brassicachinensis) is grown in a medium composed of gravel, sand, and the alga sediments from an aquarium tank.

How do you enhance the aroma of coffee beans? Harvest only the ripe coffee beans, dry, husk, roast and grind – all in one systematic process.

Bury green fruits in ash, sand or sawdust to delay their ripening.
