Hapee held Wang’s to just two points in the second quarter on its way to a 65-43 blowout victory in the PBA D-League Aspirant’s Cup yesterday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Hapee had 19 points in that period to take the half, 35-14.
Nigerian Ola Adeogun and NCAA MVP Earl Thompson led Hapee’s assault, combining for 13 points in the second quarter.
After Wangs regained its footing in the third, the Fresh Fighters unleashed an 11-1 run to open a 62-35 lead at the start of the fourth.
“We made the necessary stops in the second, and that made the difference,” Hapee head coach Ronnie Magsanoc said.
“Wangs’ energy was commendable. This game is a test of our readiness,” he added,
Garvo Lanete led the Fresh Fighters with 15 points while Thompson and Bobby Ray Parks chipped in 11 apiece for Hapee which improved to 6-0.
