United Nationalist Alliance standard-bearer Vice President Jejomar C. Binay yesterday mocked Liberal Party counterpart Manuel A. Roxas II’s claim that the much-vaunted “Solid North” will be behind him on May 9.
Binay said unlike him, Roxas doesn’t have roots in the northern part of the archipelago. “Tiga saan ba yun? Tiga saan?” the Vice President said.
“Tiga north ba yun? Ako, Northern Luzon ako,” Binay said in an interview in Cauayan in Isabela, his mother’s home province. “Tigarito ako… Ang nanay ko, Lourdes Cabauatan,” he said.
Binay said that he has the Solid North behind him just like in the 2010 elections. “Nung 2010 sa lahat ng bayan nanalo ako doon hindi pa ako halos nakapagkampanya,” said the UNA chieftain, who considers himself as Ilocano.
In another dig at Roxas, Binay said that he was well-received by the people Tuesday in Capiz – the administration bet’s home turf.
“Kahapon andun ako sa teritoryo ni Mr…teritoryo niya yun, nagpunta ako sa Capiz. Napakainit ng pagtanggap sa amin ni Sen. Pacquiao,” he recounted. (Ellson A. Quismorio)
