President Duterte has called on Filipino Muslims to join the nation’s journey towards peace and progress under this new leadership.
In his message on the observance of Eid’l Fitr in the country, the President acknowledged he needs the support and cooperation of every Filipino “to propel the country to greater heights.”
Duterte made the call as he extended his greetings to the Muslim community observing Eid’l Fitr or the end of the month-long Ramadan yesterday. Eid’l Fitr, which fell on July 6 this year, has earlier been declared a national holiday.
“May the sense of discipline the Holy Month of Ramadan has taught and nurtured among Muslims inspire all the members of the Muslim Filipino communities to unite with other Filipinos to achieve lasting peace, political stability, economic growth, and development,” the President said.
Duterte recognized that this year’s Eid’l Fitr celebration was “timely and relevant” as the nation starts a fresh move towards peace, stability, development, and progress under his term.
“Definitely, we view the new administration with high hope and sustained enthusiasm that, with the support and cooperation of every Filipino, it will propel our country to greater heights,” he said.
Earlier, the President issued Proclamation No. 6 declaring July 6 as a national holiday “to bring the religious and cultural significance of Eid’l Fitr to the fore of national consciousness.” (Genalyn D. Kabiling)
