The Department of Education said the opening of school this year yesterday was “generally peaceful, smooth, and orderly” amid the usual woes in public schools.
Education Secretary Leonor Briones, with Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada, went to the President Corazon Aquino High School in Port Area and Ramon Magsaysay High School in Sampaloc, both in Manila, to monitor the opening of classes.
The enrollment process, Briones noted, is “generally peaceful and the turnout (of enrollees) is as hopefully as expected and our projections are becoming reality because we have prepared for that.”
PCAHS, Briones said, is supposed one of those schools with problems in accommodation. Despite lack of spaces, she said that the school opening “is very orderly.”
“The teachers did a very thorough preparation because they had dry runs and went through the whole process even before classes started,” Briones said. (Ina Hernando Malipot)
