Alyssa Valdez put on another sterling performance by dropping 37 points as Creamline outplayed BaliPure, 25-19, 28-30, 25-19, 31-29, Wednesday night in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference at The Arena in San Juan City.
Valdez highlighted her performance with 34 kills apart from two aces to steer the Cool Smashers to their second win in as many outings.
The victory kept Creamline atop the standings along with defending champion Pocari Sweat, while pushing BaliPure to an even 1-1 win-loss card.
Creamline Coach Tai Bundit stuck to his starters throughout the one hour, 54 minute match and survived BaliPure’s challenge.
The Water Defenders were looking at extending the match to a deciding set after leading 29-28 in the fourth, but Grethcel Soltones’ attack went wide that gave the Cool Smashers the needed momentum.
A service ace from Valdez and a block from Ivy Remulla off an attack from Jorelle Singh sealed the win for Creamline.
“BaliPure fought really hard. It came down to the breaks of the game talaga,” said Valdez, who fired 18 points in their opening game victory over Akari-Adamson last week.
New recruit Rosemarie Vargas also spelled the difference for Creamline with 19 points including 17 hits, even as Pau Soriano added 14 points highlighted by six blocks.
