Former national athlete and Makati Rep. Monsour del Rosario yesterday assured the country that the Philippines will utilize its advantage as host when the 2019 Southeast Asian Games is held here.
“Gugulangan natin sila. (Pero) Di ko sinasabi na dadayain natin sila,” said Del Rosario during a press briefing yesterday following the awarding of cash incentives to medalists in the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAG) and ASEAN Paralympics.
Del Rosario made the bold pronouncement as he has virtually gotten hold of the coveted position of chief of mission of the 2019 PH team.
Although the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) has yet to issue Del Rosario’s formal appointment, POC president Jose “Peping” Cojuangco had assured him that he has the position in the bag.
Del Rosario earned the POC chief’s respect and admiration following his successful stint as CDM in the Aimag held in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. (Nick Giongco)
