YOUNG AND TESTED – The currently showing “Unexpectedly Yours” of Star Cinema boasts of what may well be termed “right star combination.” It’s the mixture of young stars and tried and tested actors. A romcom directed by a lady who’s proved time and again at the box-office the genre is her forte.

The “right star combination” enlarges the audience of the film to include millennials and adults alike.
“Unexpectedly Yours” explores two love stories centering on how the mother and daughter and uncle and nephew will realize if it’s really worth to open their hearts and give love a second chance in their lives.

PLOT – In this movie, Sharon plays the overbearing and overachieving Patty who is gradually losing control over the things and people that she values the most such as her job, her family, her body, and her daughter Yanni, played by Julia Barretto. Yanni is a passionate and determined young woman whose relationship with her mother is strained due to the annulment of her parents’ marriage, which resulted to her disillusionment with the concept of family.
Robin plays the adventurous and charming Cocoy whose generosity and love for his family resulted to him being single after so many years. Cocoy is idolized bu his funny, kind, and equally charming nephew Jason, portrayed by Joshua Garcia, who has a crush on Yanni whom he follows on social media.

REUNION, THIRD FILM – It should be noted that “Unexpectedly Yours” is the much awaited reunion movie of Sharon Cuneta and Robin Padilla since they last worked together in 2001 in the movie “Pagdating ng Panahon.” Sharon and Robin first romanced the entire nation 26 years ago when they starred in the classic romantic-action “Maging Sino Ka Man,” which broke box-office records in 1991.
This is also the third film of Julia Barretto and Joshua Garcia, who are also known as JoshLia to their countless fans. Julia and Joshua first worked together in the blockbuster hit “Vince and Kath and James,” which was Star Cinema’s official entry in the 2016 Metro Manila Film Festival. The success of Julia and Joshua’s big-screen tandem paved the way for a second full length film, “Love You to the Stars and Back,” which was shown middle of this year.
“Unexpectedly Yours” is the third movie by director Cathy Garcia-Molina this year, with the smash hit Valentine movie “My Ex and Whys” as the first and the recent box-office triumph “Seven Sundays” as the second. “Unexpectedly Yours” also marks another milestone in Molina stellar body of work, as this is the very first time that she has worked with Julia and Joshua as well as Philippine cinema’s Bad Boy Robin Padilla and Megastar Sharon Cuneta.
