It is only the beginning of the New Year but President Duterte is already after the heads of more officials to clean up the government, presidential spokesperson Harry Roque has revealed.

In an interview over DZMM, Roque said that more officials will follow Maritime Industry Authority administrator Marcial Amaro who was fired over his excessive foreign trips over the past two years.

Roque said the President’s men are validating reports on two more government officials whose names were not disclosed.

“Madami pa po,” Roque said when asked if there will be more government officials in Duterte’s chopping block.

“Ngayon po alam ko mayroon pang dalawang pending na reklamo diyan at pinatitingnan po talaga iyan sa Presidential Management Staff,” he added.

Roque did not specify what the two pending complaints were.

“Well, alam ko po halo-halo na kasi alam ninyo po iyong biyahe, indication iyan ng iyong – kumbaga prinsipyo at paninindigan sa paninilbihan sa gobyerno ‘no,” he said.

According to Roque, despite the President’s busy schedule and the number of complaints he receives, he is making sure that these kinds of reports are looked into to fulfill his campaign promise of a clean government.

“Huwag nating isipin na ang Presidente, palibhasa napakaraming nagpapadala ng liham, eh hindi pinapansin iyong mga reklamo,” he said.
