KBP Broadcaster of the Year 2014 and Golden Dove Awards Best Newscaster Angelo Palmones has taken over hosting chores from Joe Taruc on “Pangunahing Balita” on DZRH from 7 to 7:30 a.m., Monday to Friday. Broadcast veteran Deo Macalma remains as co-host.
“These are very big shoes to fill. Dr. Joe Taruc is an icon. It’s very challenging to be on his seat!” Angelo said.
Palmones also hosts RH Balita (5-7 a.m. Monday-Friday) with Henry Uri. RH Balita is a news and public affairs program that is simultaneously aired over Radyo Natin FM nationwide.
Kuya Angel, as friends and colleagues address him, is being humble, of course. He himself is a topnotch newsman who rose from the ranks. He used to be DZMM’s station manager for many years until he resigned when he ran for public office as Representative under Agham Party List. After his political stint, he returned to news broadcasting.
Palmones was named KBP Broadcaster of the Year in 2014. He was also a multiple Golden Dove awardee for Best Newscaster.
DZRH is the oldest radio station in the country while its FM flagship station, Love Radio is the current #1 station on FM.
