An 18-year-old man, who allegedly robbed and stabbed dead a cab driver, was apprehended early yesterday morning in Marikina City.
Police identified the suspect as Jomari Basconillo of Barangay Tumana, Marikina.
Authorities said Basconillo allegedly robbed and stabbed in the chest taxi driver Mario Torres on June 4 around 8 p.m. on Libra Street in Parang, Marikina.
General Reynaldo Biay, Eastern Police District director, said the suspect was arrested after a concerned citizen from Barangay Tumana gave his whereabouts.
The concerned citizen said Basconillo offered him a secondhand cellphone.
Policemen immediately went to the area and collared him.
During interrogation, the suspect reportedly admitted that he stabbed the cab driver.
Basconillo is now detained at the Marikina Police headquarters.
