President Duterte will spend the Holy Week in his hometown of Davao City, MalacaƱang said yesterday.
Presidential spokesman Salvador Panelo said in an interview over DZMM that Duterte always spends such occasion with his family.
“Eh palagi naman siyang nasa pamilya niya basta mga holidays. Birthdays, holidays, palagi siyang nasa kaniyang bahay at kasama niya ang kaniyang pamilya,” he said.
Duterte has been known to spend holidays and other special days quietly with his family in Davao City. The President marked his 74th birth anniversary last March 28 with his grandchildren.
MalacaƱang has declared Maundy Thursday (April 18) and Good Friday (April 19) as regular holidays while Black Saturday (April 20) was declared as a special non-working day.
The Palace has noted the Holy Week as one of the most cherished traditions of the predominantly Catholic people in the country.
In 2017, despite his distaste for long flights, Duterte spent the Holy Week making official visits to three Muslim countries: Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Qatar.Ā (Argyll Geducos)
